2. City-Triathlon Merzig [GER]

Massive X3M participation at the 2nd edition of the olympic distance triathlon in Merzig [GER]. Besides a ‘Jedermann’-Triathlon over 300m-20km-5km, the organizer offered 3 races over the OD distance due to the integration of the ‘Saarland’ championships and races for the RTV national league 1 and 2. More than 500 participants showed up on sunday under hot but perfect weather conditions.

In the short ‘Jedermann’ race, Mariette Brosius left the water on the leading position, finally Maria Elisa Peiretti and Mariette finished the race on excellent 9th and 10th position in a time of 1:18:09.

In the 3rd OD race (open category), Pascal Duhautpas left the Saar river on 2nd position overall. He was still in 4th position overall after the bike part, but only 2 weeks after the IM, he blew up in the heat and struggeled to finish the race. Finishing 8th in this 3rd race, he took 78th rank all 3 races mixed together.

Yves Koch came in 2min later on 87th rank, Antoine de Groote took 2:37:31 to finish on 149th rank overall. Unfortunately, Alain Jungen had to drop out of the race depleted due to illness the days before the race.
